Discover the extraordinary and unique art of Fetal Pig
Dissection Taxidermy.
Duration: 3 hours
Time: 2 PM PDT
ScientificWoman will be sharing her exclusive dissection process for creating these one of a kind pieces of art. Each student will be provided with all the necessary tools to dissect and position a fetal pig and create their very own personal customized taxidermy art piece.
When you enter the workshop you will receive your very own lab coat! You will then be immersed into the world of all things dissection. You will learn the amazing anatomy of the specimen through a guided tour of its’ life cycle. Each student will be trained to dissect and prepare their very own specimen. Armed with the scientific knowledge to create a biological masterpiece, each student will be able to customize their own fetal pig taxidermy position and design. In addition to the dissection process, each student will have the opportunity to paint/design their very own custom wooden mount for their completed art piece.
After the completion of your specimen’s artistic design and mounting plaque, your specimen will be lovingly cryo-preserved
for transport to ScientificWoman’s lab in NorCal. The final steps required to forever immortalize and mount your creation
will be completed by your instructor. Finally, your finished art piece will be SHIPPED to you directly at no extra cost! Each student will be provided with all the necessary scientific dissection tools, fetal pig specimen, wooden mounting customization materials, lab attire and workshop exclusive reference guide.
Ticket price includes general admission entry beginning at 1 pm the day of workshops.
Note: No prior taxidermy experience/anatomical knowledge is required! All specimens are ethically and sustainably sourced.
About ScientificWoman
Mikayla, the artist behind ScientificWoman, has an educational background in mortuary science. She received training in the
fields of anatomy and chemistry at a renowned natural history gallery in Berkeley, Ca before branching out to create her own
company. Mikayla believes the most effective way to appreciate the mechanical nature of life is through examining the
remarkable nature of death. In order to cultivate this exploration, she developed an art style and preservation process for specimens uncommonly found in taxidermy form. Her techniques are unique to the industry and she continues to innovate and create never before seen taxidermy art pieces.
